Improv Onstage and in Life (Grades 1-5)
Building creatively one piece at a time, students collaborate to create stories and scenes on the spot, harnessing their unlimited imagination and providing support for one another using the backbone of Improv: “Yes, and.” By creating a habit of diving in, students build and reinforce a growth mindset. Every meeting, we highlight an improv skill (listening before we launch into solving, communicating clearly, being aware of our emotions) that is helpful when we leave the stage and enter the real world.
Make A Zoom Play (Grades 3-5)
Using improv to build a cohesive story through collaborative methods, students will create an original 10-minute Zoom play that can be recorded and shared. In staging a complete play, they will also harness the elements of Stage (or screen) design, scriptwriting, making entrances and exits, costuming, and visual perspective in order to best tell their story.
